This webinar will serve as a primer to acute phase proteins (who, what, where, why) and the demonstrated utility in companion and large animals. Applications in zoo and wildlife species – both specific and overarching will also be presented.

The second webinar in this 2-part series will explore the methodology and assays currently available for measurement of APRs in zoo and wildlife species: albumin, serum iron, C-reactive protein, haptoglobin, serum amyloid A and electrophoresis. The importance of assay validation will be discussed, with some practical examples. Other topics will include species differences, and determination of reference intervals and diagnostic utility.
